Where in the world am I located?
Palm Beach County, Florida, USA
If I woke up one morning and found out I was a puppet...I'd be...
any Joe Cashore puppet, like the horse and rider or maybe the one that actually crawls all the way up his body.... incredible puppetry in motion!
What part of puppetry am I involved in?
In some ways....ALL. I perform but am still learning. I am involved with advancing puppetry through educational collaborations that focus on literacy, character building, responsibility and self-esteem empowerment.
Who or what inspired me to get involved in puppetry?
I have been fascinated with the arts since I was very young. Having lived abroad I have been exposed to many different cultural experiences that have molded who I am today.
Who do I admire in the world of puppetry?
This list is way to long to write here... but.... Sheri Lewis, Edgar Bergen, Bil Baird, Joe Cashore, Philip Huber, Jim Napolitano, Toppo Gigio, of course anything and anyone associated with Jim Henson, and Walt Disney for his creative and visionary genius. Any and all who have the ability to transcend reality for just a moment. They are all to be admired and lauded.
Let me tell you more about me...
I am a licensed educator; bilingual Spanish/English, multicultural. and a licensed massage therapist. I am founding a puppetry nonprofit org. through my Masters program in Nonprofit Management at FAU(Florida Atlantic Univ.)this summer and will complete my MA by May 2009. I volunteer for Red Cross and Hospice of Palm Beach County as well as others. My life is full but definitely FUN. My husband and I have three uniquely talented daughters.
My Puppet Company, Team or Club is....
Look for THE PALETTE PROJECT on the web very soon. I am working toward an interactive webpage tofurther the org.'s mission to advance the art of puppetry.
Organizations I belong to are....
Past President of Gold Coast Puppet Guild...I am active in my professional org., FSMTA, as our Chapter's Treasurer.
I am, of course, a member of PoA, and member of COAI.

I have one more Website:

I'm glad that you thought to invite me, Thanks!

Hi Buttons... you don't mind me calling you buttons do you?
It's cute!
Feel free to write anytime.
I sometimes get a little busy when summer.
Funny how we seem to sit in the house so much during the colder months and then summer hits and off we go... always running and doing something..

Take Care Buttons,
Cher

My first master clown was Big Happy Hank Baranowski in Detroit. Through the years I had lots of friends that were performers. I attended lots of clown conventions including Clown Camp and several World Clown Association events. I was an officer of Southeast Clown Association and a regional director for World Clown for a while. We attended and eventually taught at Fellowship of Christian Magicians and lectured at over 20 conventions. Leon McBride, Frosty Little and Mark Anthony all invested in my efforts and they loved my son Josh (aka: P-Nut). We spent many a night overnight at Leon's home so he could coach my son (and I).

Through the years I had lots of other influences including John Winslow (CJ) from Ringling who traveled with me for a season. We really enjoyed the Clowns of Russia that were touring in Atlanta area and their sponsor went broke. We provided a "free roll" (food event for clowns on the circus tour) at our house and they had a great time and loved that all 3 of our kids were clowns already and took time to invest in them, too.

Life has been an adventure. Thanks for asking..it allowed me to remember some good times.

Hi!
I'm supposed to teach a workshop at Puppet Fest Mid West. Currently I only have 2 participants signed up and I need 5 to do the peice I want to do. I'll still attend even if I don't get enough participants! Then I get to be a student!

I have quite a bit of experience writing and developing (and touring and managing...etc.) educational programs that use puppets. I'm not sure if you're asking for info on using puppets in the classroom as teaching tools or using puppet shows to convey educational messages. I know much more about the latter. What exactly is your non-profit going to be doing/wanting to accomplish?
