They are made of material that decomposes based on age, heat and oil on the skin from normal use. Over time the vinyl (rubber) breaks down and gets sticky and then is fragile. Nothing lasts like wood.... but who can afford wood? (grin)

I know what your saying, I love my axtells, but the only way I can get one is christmas, my birthday or ebay and even that can be a strentch. What do you mean that your puppets melt? how did this happen? is there something I should look for?

David, Thanks for adding me as a fried. Looks like you've done lots of interesting things, and ... of course ... had lots of fun. Even if you're retired, I hope you are staying active in our arts. Tom

One of my greatest honors was to be invited to teach as a Master Clown at the Professional Clown event (can't recall the name right now but you had to be a pro with references to attend) that Leon and Frosty did the hills of Virginia... I got to serve with all the names we know and love and was accepted - with my son (who was 14 at the time and the only kid at the event) as the Ministry Clown Master Clowns... what a hoot!

David,
We are twice blessed.... you for the telling and sharing, and I for the receiving. It is evident that your life has been a gift to many. I now count myself among them for having a new friend with shared interests. I have not done much clowning recently, but look forward to incorporating it in some of my educational programs to be taught through The Palette Project.
Thanks for being so gracious with your memories!:)

I have been a professional clown since 1987; my Master Clown mentor was Kello (Kelly Lee) who I think retired to North or South Carolina from Florida. Have you ever gone to COAI events or where did you receive your training? Just curious!:)
